Captain of the Nigeria national team, William Troost-Ekong, has been ruled out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe clash.
Troost-Ekong picked up a groin injury during the 2-1 win over Sierra Leone on Thursday.
The Watford defender had to be stretchered off late in the second half after falling without contact.
Other players in the team who can take Troost-Ekong’s place are Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun, Chidozie Awaziem, etc.
Soccernet however reports the player is currently being assessed to know the extent of his injury and will undergo further checks.
