Police Corporal Kills Sachet Water Vendor Over N100 bribe

All hell was let loose on Saturday morning in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when enraged members of the public who witnessed the reckless killing of a sachet water (pure water) vendor by a police corporal took to the street to protest the dastardly killing.

Corporal Rowland Onyijie of Okporo Division in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area allegedly demanded for N100 from the sachet water vendor who refused to grant his request.

A hot argument was said to have ensued between the police corporal and the water vendor during which the former cocked his rifle and fired, killing the water vendor instantly in his tricycle popularly called Keke NAPEP.

When contacted, Nnamdi Omoni, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, has ordered immediate arrest and detention of the corporal at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID for further investigation.
