Four Nigerians, 24 year old Ahmed Azeez, 33 year old Tunde Yagba, 25 year old Adewale Sunday and 3 year old Ajose Kehinde, who had smuggled themselves into a Malaysian-bound cargo vessel without proper documentation, were on Wednesday discovered and arrested by operatives of the Marine Police Command.
Sunday gave himself up and was rushed to the hospital after he had a severe ulcer induced pain due to lack of food inside the area of the cargo they were hiding in.
Following a tip-off from the Amphibious Ambush Squad of the Marine Command led by DSP Ben Ogungbure, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Maritime Police Command, Muhammed Katsina, began to track the movement of the remaining three suspects. The operatives arrested Azeez, Yagba and Kehinde who were already on board the Malaysia bound cargo ship,
Katsina said that the suspects were tracked 23 hours after they had departed, and that upon interrogation, the command discovered they had previously illegally travelled to various countries but were always deported.
