Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr, has dismissed reports that he is facing a goalkeeping crisis with the World Cup bare two weeks away.
This comes as the youngest and most inexperienced goalkeeper in the squad, Francis Uzoho, has started the last four matches played by the national team.
Following the illness to former no 1, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Carl Ikeme, the German coach worked on the possibility of recalling Lille’s Vincent Enyeama to the Super Eagles, but he failed after the former Super Eagles skipper insisted on staying retired from international football.
After Uzoho’s rather shaky displays recently, fans of the Eagles have expressed concerns over the man between the sticks going to the Mundial.
But Rohr, who put the side through their paces at their training camp in Austria Monday, says the fears are unfounded.
“For me we don’t have a goalkeeping problem, I hear we have a goalkeeping problem, no,” he said.
The Eagles take on Czech in their last pre-World Cup warm-up game in Vienna, Austria on Wednesday, before jetting off to Russia where they begin their campaign against Croatia June 16.
