There’s always something going on on Twitter, someone is always dragging somebody or somebody is getting dragged. On some other days, two parties are taking each other on a personal journey through the mud and the rest of the tweeps are just left to react. Today is the latter of such days. Apparently, Nigerian Rap Icon, M.I Abaga and Music Journo; Joey Akan, have each other at the throats.
So, according to how it is looking, the wahala started when M.I called out Joey disrespecting rappers following his tweet about DaBaby’s visit to Lagos Nigeria for a video shoot with Davido.
Joey Akan was quick to comment, saying that the rapper didn’t need to demand recognition because his artistry had previously won him it.
When MI responded with a tweet claiming that the music journalist was an enemy of hip hop in Nigeria. Joey Akan then accused MI of attempting to use him (Joey) to smear the image and reputation, of his artistes in the past.
Wait… Let em bring you the tweets, the gist is always sweeter with receipts:
Why is Dababy not having one-on-one with local Nigerian rappers? No meet-and-greet? No hailings?
“wE nEeD tHE CUltuRe to resPect Nigerian wrappers.”
You rappers should go and drag Davido na. Since entitlement is usually your first name. 😂😂😂

If I don’t demand respect why you constantly on my dick tho?

I’ve stood you up 3 times M.I, when you wanted to use me to attack an artist, you ruined their career. I refused, and you’ve hated me for it.
Leaking dirt on your artists to further damage their career.
You know why I never attended those meetings? Because you’re evil. https://t.co/VfdngBNjMs

lol.. leak it.. I dare you. https://t.co/PnKH7ClEir

Stop doing this. Did you try to use me as a tool to destroy an artist that once called you father? And ate from the same plate as you? I ghosted you because you wanted to compromise me for evil.
Answer the question. And stop calling me and threatening me. Vector was right. https://t.co/AzPVmZDOM0

Let it be known that @JoeyAkan is an enemy of Nigerian HipHop!
A vile mind that continuously spits on our efforts and debases the Hiphop community!
You are persona non grata and no longer welcome in the culture.
— M.I Abaga (@MI_Abaga) May 19, 2022
You see this behaviour? This is exactly what they did in the past to multiple artists looking to exist in this space, before the internet came. When they l made phone calls, and removed other artists from radio and success.
You ruined lives, Jude. But this is 2022. https://t.co/yHE1BMRpNu
— Joey Akan (@JoeyAkan) May 19, 2022
King of Nigerian hip hop has excommunicated me. You’re not that guy, Jude. You no longer have that influence you used for evil in the past.
The industry doesn’t rate you. Your past sins speak against you.
You’re still stuck in the 2011, that’s why you’re crying for Rick Ross. https://t.co/yHE1BMRpNu
— Joey Akan (@JoeyAkan) May 19, 2022
Jude, once upon a time, you didn’t have to demand respect from anybody. Your artistic impact automatically gave you that.
Ask why you are demanding it now.
Tell your people the truth, MI Abaga. Stop crying over Rick Ross on Twitter. You dishonour us, rap and your legacy. ❤️ https://t.co/2ydGhiG6A7

The story continues… Apparently, according to Joey Akan, M.I Abaga proceeded to his DM to talk as well as call him. Then, M.I returned to twitter to quote something that was said during the private conversations and Joey was having none of it.
ocial media users have been left to take sides, and people are talking… The question now is, are we getting a new diss song in M.I’s forthcoming album?
