A staff bus conveying fourteen workers of Nest Oil, an oil company in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State has been diverted by unidentified gunmen in the area.

The Nestoil workers were kidnapped in the early hours of Friday around Omoku-Elele link road.

It was gathered that the Costa bus, which was carrying the company workers, was accosted and hijacked to an unknown destination under heavy gunfire.

A source who claimed to have witnessed the incident but pleaded anonymity disclosed that the workers were returning to Port Harcourt before the incident.

The source said the victims had gone to work at Omoku area and were coming back to their base in Port Harcourt before the kidnappers accosted them.

However, all effort made to reach the management of the company to speak on the development proved abortive.

Spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni has confirmed the incident.

Omoni said their men had swung into action by sweeping through nearby bushes to rescue all the victims alive.
