Olusegun Obasanjo has accused members of the National Assembly of being corrupt, as he called on anti-corruption agencies to arrest those who padded the budget.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has once again accused members of the National Assembly of being corrupt and asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to go after them.
The Independent revealed that Obasanjo said the that corruption in the legislature is worse than that of the judiciary. He made the observation on Wednesday as guest speaker at the inaugural lecture organised by Akintola Williams Foundation.
He said, “If the judiciary is been cleansed, what of the National Assembly, which stinks much worse than the judiciary.”
The former President advised the anti-corruption agencies to ensure that those involved in budget padding are punished according to the provisions of the law.
“Budget padding must not go unpunished, if it is a reality which is a regular and systematic practice. Nobody should pull over the eyes of Nigerians.”
