Residents of a Bauchi village have been given the fright of their lives after gunmen stormed the area to unleash mayhem.
At least 11 people, including three babies, have reportedly been abducted from a remote village in Bauchi State.
According to News 24, gunmen stormed the village of Tipchi, about 120km from the state capital, in the early hours of Monday morning, whisking the 11 victims away while wounding three others.
Ilya Muhammad, a relative of the victims, confirmed the incident, while saying that the kidnappers had since made contact via telephone demanding ransom.
Bauchi State lawmaker Abdullahi Sa’ad Abdulkadir said troops and police details had been deployed to assist with the rescue of those missing.
The development followed the abduction of a former national minister Laurentia Mallam in the northwestern State of Kaduna.
Mallam and her husband, Pius, were abducted by unknown gunmen on Tuesday after they encountered a fake roadblock.
The kidnappers had reportedly reached out to the family demanding a ransom of N10 million, with police, however, saying that they had no knowledge of any demands.
