Protesting youth group says Emefiele flouted CBN Act

The National Youth Council of Nigeria on Tuesday protested against what it described as the denigration of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act by its current Governor, Godwin Emefiele, over his presidential ambition in 2023.

While declaring that the CBN governor has dragged a revered institution of government into partisan politics, the NYCN vowed to consult widely and take appropriate actions.

The President of NYCN, Solomon Adodo, stated this during the launch of the Youth-Run Campaign in Abuja with the theme, “Youth rising for a united Nigeria.”

He said, “In the light of the current developments of searching for credible leaders at all levels we herein state the following:

“Our doors are open to all Aspirants across all Party lines for proper consultation. Aspirants must show their clear plans for the youth and seal a pact of partnership to ensure youth potentials are moved to productivity.

“We frown at the denigrating of the CBN Act by its current Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele who has dragged a revered institution of government into partisan politics. We shall consult widely and take appropriate actions.

“All aspirants should please maintain the tempo with which they bought their forms in tackling the raging issues of unemployment and neglect facing the youth in their respective domain.

“As we launch the Youth-RUN Campaign, we urge the youth to maintain focus on national development and unity. Our enemy is not the Fulani man, the Igbo man, the Yoruba man, the Hausa man or the Ijaw man or enemy is underdevelopment and we must collective channel our energies to birth a greater Nigeria together.”
