Seven persons were killed earlier today near Muna Motor Park as suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers attacked two unofficial Internally Displaced Persons camp and a nearby village.
At least 18 persons were also injured in the attacked according to security sources in the area.
The Borno State Police Command has disclosed that four Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)were killed and 18 other people injured in multiple explosions, following attacks by three suicide bombers on two IDP camps and a location in Muna General Area of Maiduguri.
Borno State Police Commissioner, Mr. Damien Chukwu, told newsmen that the attacks took place at about 4.30am.
“Today is another sad day for us in Maiduguri. At about 0430hrs, bombers attacked Gulunba and Sinhinbaya unofficial camps, killing three persons and injuring 14 others. A few minutes later, another bomber attacked Muslim faithful, who were about to start dawn prayers, killing one, while four others sustained various degrees of injuries,” said Mr. Chukwu, who called on the state government to close down all unofficial IDP camps in Maiduguri. The attacks were said to have been carried out by three suicide bombers, who died in the process.
