Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to pray for the country as it enters the final stretch of the electioneering period.

Jonathan gave the call in his Christmas message to Nigerians.

In a post on his verified Facebook page, Jonathan urged Nigerians to show love to one another.

The post reads: “The eternal beauty of Christmas is the good tiding that the Son of God came to dwell amongst us and that that singular act is worth commemorating because He has reconciled us to God forever.

“We are the recipients of God’s grace in the form of Jesus Christ, the reason for this season comfort and joy. And that is why I use this opportunity to urge all of us to reciprocate God’s love for us by loving each other and loving Nigeria.

“I pray that the Christmas spirit will reinvigorate our sense of patriotism in our political, economic and social life because we as Nigerians can only win if we win together.

“We indeed faced severe challenges in 2018, but as we celebrate Christmas and our hope for tomorrow, I am convinced that God will bless our collective efforts and we will usher in better days of prosperity ahead as a nation.

“Finally, I urge all of us to pray for Nigeria and especially for the final stretch of the electioneering period we will enter into immediately after the holidays. We must all remember that since Jesus died for all of humanity, nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any citizen.

“On behalf of my family, I Goodluck Ebele Jonathan wishes you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. May God bless Nigeria. GEJ.”
