Rapper Kodak Black Has Been Released From Prison

According to Complex, the the 21-year-old rapper was released from Broward County Jail on Saturday, after serving seven months of his initial yearlong sentence. Kodak, whose new legal name as Bill K. Kapri, reportedly returned to his mother’s house upon his release, and now can’t wait to get back to the studio.

This comes one month after the judge shortened the rapper’s prison sentence after his lawyers filed a motion for the law to recognise 30 additional days of time-served for him.

The rapper’s recent trouble with the law started after he was arrested and charged with multiple felonies in January 2018 following an Instagram Live broadcast which showed a young child in the vicinity of marijuana and a handgun.

His lawyers later argued that there was no evidence that the guns and drugs in the video were real, and all felony charges were dropped. Then he entered an open plea to probation violation charges.

Meanwhile, Kodak was indicted on unrelated sexual assault charges in October 2017 and is still awaiting that trial.
